Lukashenko on his most ‘extreme’ business trip and ‘vacation’

Belarus is the best vacation spot for the Head of State – as stated today by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, when answering questions from young people during the Open Microphone with the President event, featuring university students of engineering and technical specialities

Answering the students’ question about which of the President’s business trips abroad was the most ‘extreme’, the Head of State admitted that this was the trip in December 2023, covering the United Arab Emirates, China, and several African countries at once.

“It took more than a week. It really was an extreme trip. These are all hot countries, while I’m a northern person, and I don’t tolerate heat in general. It was a real challenge. I don’t like business trips,” the President replied.

The Belarusian leader added that it’s difficult for him to be absent in the country for more than 2-3 days. Moreover, he said that in all his presidential years he had never really been on vacation.

“If I fly somewhere (these are usually meetings with Russia’s President either in St. Petersburg, or Moscow, or Sochi), I adjust to sit and look at the sea on weekends. But this is also a test for me. There is no place like home. I can, if I may say so, relax — although it is difficult to say that this is relaxation, it is more a change of circumstances — only in Belarus, only at home. I love my country and its nature very much. I have a lot of experience in this regard; the place where we live is truly unique.”
