Lukashenko on fugitives’ extreme option

When making personnel decisions today, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko touched upon issues of the internal political agenda and security, especially reminding that a difficult time – a political campaign – lies ahead

“Electoral campaigns are always a battlefield. Don’t think, as some say, that we’ve cleaned up everything here. Firstly, no one cleaned anyone. Everything is simple: those who needed to be cleaned up ran away. Well, that’s their right and choice. But in no way should we feel complacent. The situation has changed; the time is different. Yes, our positions in power are completely different. However, those on the other side of the barricades also understand this, and if this is the situation, they are looking for the keys to it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The Head of State noted that the domestic media do not hide anything about what is happening in the country, conveying all the nuances to our society, “There is almost no propaganda. We don’t need to invent anything; we don’t need to fabricate anything. We have enough facts to prove our case. Therefore, what you see from journalists on our leading TV channels, in the press, and on the Internet, is exactly what it is. The extreme option [of the fugitives] is an armed invasion into Belarus’ territory, because no one gives money just for idle talks. They completely lose the international and domestic agenda to our journalists. So they were told that chattering is good, and they will receive this certain amount of money for this, while everything else will be given for a more effective struggle, for an armed uprising, like breaking into the territory of Belarus, as Ukrainians did in the Kursk Region, seizing part of the territory and destabilising the situation in the country. Therefore, along with harvesting campaign and other economic issues, I have to pay great attention to the defence capability of our country.”
