First Deputy PM: Belarus, China not weakened pace of co-operation, but intensified it

Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, Belarus and China have never weakened the pace of bilateral co-operation, and it is now worthily being tested for strength – as stated by Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister, Nikolai Snopkov, at a solemn event on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China

“For Belarus, China is not just a partner country with which we have diplomatic and trade relations. We are ‘iron brothers’ and more than once have practically confirmed our genuine and sincere friendship based on trust, mutual assistance and unwavering support for mutual interests," Mr. Snopkov stressed. “Our countries have established the highest level of relations in history: all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. The heads of state of Belarus and China are bound by strong and sincere friendship.”

The First Deputy PM emphasised that Minsk and Beijing cherish the historical memory of the years of struggle against fascism and militarism, “We are united in our views on the current political situation and the future world order. Belarus and China provide unconditional support to each other in matters of fundamental interests. We are actively promoting the global agenda on international and regional platforms, and we are jointly implementing global initiatives for the benefit of the peoples of all countries. Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, Belarus and China have never weakened the pace of bilateral co-operation, and it is worthily being tested for strength. The large-scale changes – our Chinese friends say they are observed for the first time over the past century – contribute to the unity of our countries. We continue progressing in our interaction.”

Mr. Snopkov stressed that an unprecedented high level of political trust has been achieved between Belarus and China, and other areas of co-operation should demonstrate similar achievements. “This is exactly the task set for us by the leaders of Belarus and China: to raise economic and investment co-operation to the level of political interaction. To achieve this goal, the governments have identified a core task for the medium term: the arrival of Chinese technologies in Belarus on large scales. We see the development of our country in conjunction with the concept of China's new productive forces based on technology, innovation and human potential," the First Deputy Prime Minister said.

Mr. Snopkov also quoted the words of the President of Belarus, which will never lose their relevance, “With strong China, Belarus will also be strong.” He expressed confidence that the current agreements would be realised with new forces, new ideas on further deepening Belarusian-Chinese co-operation. Moreover, as the Premier of the State Council, Li Qiang said, a new package of co-operation could be agreed upon.

"Let Belarus and China continue to go hand in hand, demonstrating to the whole world an example of genuine fraternal friendship and exemplary co-operation, beyond the control of time, geographical distance and external influence," the First Deputy Prime Minister stated.
