Expert on whether USA is going to cut support for Ukraine

The main objective for Trump’s team now is to freeze the conflict in Ukraine and re-focus on the Indo-Pacific, said Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR), talking to Alfa Radio

He reminded that US presidents are not independent decision makers.

“They are hired managers serving the interests of super-capitalists who, generally speaking, run not only the United States, but also the entire Anglo-Saxon geopolitical space, not to mention the whole world they are also trying to turn into their fiefdom of sorts. That’s why Trump’s objectives will be the same as Biden’s objectives, just re-shaped somewhat. The main objective for Trump’s team now is to freeze the conflict in Ukraine and re-focus their efforts and their forces on the Indo-Pacific, because the US’ main competitor and threat is China. Biden’s team failed in that respect: they didn’t ‘make America great again’. So Trump is there to do the job using sanctions and pressure,” Mr. Avdonin said.

People in the US know fighting on two fronts would be extremely difficult for them.

“Although Janet Yellen, the ex-FRS chief, claimed they are ready for that, they are not. They don’t have the resources. That’s why they will do everything to freeze the Ukraine conflict for the time being and use that time to militarise Kiev. In another 3 or 4 years, with Trump’s new term running out, they’re going to blow the country up again. So, we have to keep in mind that any illusions when it comes to the United States would not serve us well. They are trying to achieve their own goals that are extremely unfriendly towards us. Because the competition is fierce,” the expert added.
