Boris Johnson admitted West is waging proxy war against Russia

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (in office in 2019-2022) admitted that the West is involved in a proxy war against Russia, TASS reports

“We’re waging a proxy war, but we’re not giving our proxies the ability to do the job. For years now, we’ve been allowing them to fight with one hand tied behind their backs and it has been cruel,” Johnson said in an interview with The Telegraph.

The ex-PM believes the United Kingdom is morally responsible for Ukraine’s predicament. By signing the Budapest memorandum on Ukraine’s security guarantees, London set up condition for Kiev to give up nuclear weapons. He pointed out that the UK and the US deprived Ukraine of the nuclear deterrent in could be using now.

On the matter of a possible settlement, Johnson said European peacekeepers could be needed for that at some point. He thinks the best option would be a ‘multinational European peace-keeping forces monitoring the border [and] helping the Ukrainians’. The former PM made a point that a force like that would be unthinkable without the UK and its military.
