Belarusian universities developing all-weather partnership with China
Belarusian universities are actively liaising with China, with Dean of the BSU Faculty of Philology Sergei Vazhnik stressing that at its level, the university faculty contributes to the development of all-weather relations with PRC
“We are acting within the framework of the so-called people’s diplomacy. Over the last five years, three PhD theses have been defended at the Chinese Philology Department: two on Chinese literature and one on the Chinese language,” Mr. Vazhnik pointed out.
A centre for comparative study of Chinese and Belarusian traditional folk cultures has been opened at the Faculty of Philology. Under the supervision of Prof. Irina Kazakova, Zhang Hongshan, a teacher from China, defended his PhD thesis on Belarusian and Chinese folklore: Belarusian and Chinese Traditional Rites: A Comparative Aspect. Three more postgraduate students from China are writing their research papers in this field. I would like to note that Chinese citizens are very interested in our folklore. It turns out that we have found another ‘gold mine’ in our relationship.”
There are agreements with East China University (Harbin), Shanghai University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Dalian Polytechnic University on exchange education and internships for students and teachers.
‘2+2’ joint educational programmes have been implemented with Chengdu Institute of Sichuan International Studies University and Changchun Institute of International Commerce.
