Lukashenko: any aggression against Belarus will entail immediate response

Speaking at today’s solemn meeting on the occasion of Victory Day in the Palace of the Republic, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has promised an instant response to any military aggression against the republic

Commenting on the details of the sudden practicing of the issues of the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons, the President explained, “Our task is to inflict unacceptable damage on the enemy if – as it happened in the past – the enemy's boots set foot on our land again. They must understand that. After all, upon understanding that an instant response will follow, that they will get something that they will be unable to live through, that unacceptable damage will be inflicted, then they will never (if they still have something left in their heads) wage a war.”

The Belarusian leader emphasised, “We do not believe any lulling. We declare once again: we are not going to attack anyone. We are just reacting to what is happening not far away from us. We manage our own land, we react to what is happening nearby. I repeat once again: ninety thousand [Western troops] – at least, this is the number we know of – have concentrated near our borders. How many of you can say that, for example, ten thousand out of these 90 thousand, will not attack our border tomorrow? Nobody. Therefore, as Commander-in-Chief, I have made a decision: battalion tactical groups have been deployed in all possible directions (we know these directions), and our military (except for border guards and militia, which is on the border) are serving the security of our state. That's all.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko made a fundamental statement, “If everything is calm, then it’s good. It will be then quiet here as well. If someone uses a weapon against us, then we will respond – and this response will be immediate. We will not draw any lines. We are not Russia that covers many thousands of kilometres, lines can be drawn there, and something may be expected. It is impossible to capture great Russia right away. In turn, Belarus – as the last war showed – ceased to exist within a month. This will happen even faster in our modern times. Therefore, there can be no [red] lines. None of them. Any aggression will entail an immediate response.”
